Devoted to Me

Jan 10, 2025

Devotion, now that is a PowerFlow word!

devotion

 [ dih-voh-shuhn ]

noun

  •  profound dedication, especially to religion.
  •  earnest attachment to a cause, person, etc.
  •  an assignment or appropriation to any purpose, cause, etc

The word Devotion has been coming into my awareness a lot lately and I have been reflecting on how it applies to my life.

Devotion to God, as I am living a led life of absolute surrender and receive, following God’s will for me and being completely supported by the Divine.  Check, devoted there.

Devotion to my purpose and serving as God directs me to.  Check, devoted there.

With the energies of 2024 clearing and experiencing the new that is coming into to replace them already in 2025, I am recognizing a shift and a breaking of old ways of being.  A few uncomfortable starts of days, feeling a little like I am in a funk, followed by extreme clarity and motivation.  Old habits that no longer serve falling away through a much hightened awareness.

The days of people pleasing, doing for others in-authentically, are long over, as I only do for others because I want to.  However, one thing I notice I am still not doing consistently is making sure I do for me, first.  Making sure that I am taking care of what I need to take care of for me before committing to the assistance of others.

A meme recently crossed my social media feed that said something along the lines of “the time of seeking is over, it’s time to fully integrate the wisdom you already contain.”  This resonated greatly with me.  Something that I teach others and often “preach” about is that when we take care of our needs first, as in take care of our body, mind and Spirit, we are better equipped to serve those we love.  This applies to our children, our partners and for those of us that live a life of service, those we serve.

In the short 10 days of the new year, I have been provided ample opportunities that have highlighted where I am not doing this.  Taking care of me as an afterthought, an old way of being that is currently being highlighted to be changed.Reflecting on this, I nearly got bitter and felt like I needed to simply stop assisting others unless it was directly related to service through my business.  I felt like I really needed to use the word “no” a lot more.  I felt like isolating and not being as active in this AMAZING conscious community that I live in.  These thoughts only made me feel worse so I know this was not the answer, so I took it to prayer.

God reminded me just how taken care of I am and showed me how by being of service to others has provided me just as much receiving as I was giving, and I instantly had my answer.  The problem is not my giving of energy to others, it is that I am simply not putting my needs above those of others.  That I am not honoring myself and my energy first.  I was then reminded of the wisdom I already contain as the tools needed to be integrated.

So what does this look like?  It looks like making sure I ask myself “Is doing this for my highest good at this moment?  Are my needs taken care of at this moment?  Is there anything I need to do for myself before committing to this?  Does this fit into my schedule, my routine, at this moment?  Can I ask to do this when it fits into my schedule?  And, then, this is a big one for me, making sure I do do for me when I have the time, rather than distracting myself or procrastinating, so I am available to serve in whatever manner I am called upon without worry about taking care of me.

This looks like a calling for more structure.

This looks like a calling to be devoted to myself, first, so that I can be devoted to God and the purpose/mission laid out for me, after all, being devoted to God and being devoted to me is one in the same.  Serving myself IS serving God, and when I make sure I do that first, I can help others do the same.

So yes, devotion is a fitting word for the commitment to me.  My body is my Temple, life is a ceremony, God is my religion and dwells within me so for 2025, I am devoted to me.
